FAQ

Everything you might want to know before getting started.

There isn’t a one size fits all answer. Some people come with something quite specific they want to work through while others need more time to explore what’s going on underneath. We’ll review the work as we go and therapy doesn’t continue just for the sake of it.

No. This is your therapy and you’re in control of what you share. We might be talking about sex and intimacy but that doesn’t mean you have to disclose anything before you’re ready. We work at your pace and there’s no pressure to give graphic details.

It’s a free 15 minute chat before you decide whether you’d like to work with me. You can briefly tell me what’s bringing you to therapy, ask any questions and get a feel for whether I might be the right therapist for you. It’s not a therapy session and there’s no obligation to book afterwards.

I work predominantly with Black and marginalised communities and creating space for experiences that are often overlooked or misunderstood is an important part of my practice. That doesn’t mean you have to be Black or from a marginalised community to work with me though. Everyone is welcome.

The first session is really about getting to know you and understanding what has brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about what’s been happening, what you’d like to get from our work together and anything important for me to know. You don’t have to come prepared with the “right” words or tell me everything in one go. We work at a pace that feels manageable for you.

Yes, what you share in therapy is confidential. There are some exceptions, such as if I’m seriously concerned about your safety or someone else’s or where I’m legally required to disclose something. I also have clinical supervision as part of my professional practice. We go through all of this properly before we start working together.

Absolutely not. Sometimes you know exactly what you want to work on and sometimes you just know that something doesn’t feel right. Maybe sex has changed, intimacy feels difficult or you simply want to understand yourself better. We can work out what’s going on together. You don’t need a diagnosis or a perfectly worded reason for coming to therapy.

All therapy sessions are online via Zoom, so you can access therapy from wherever you are in the UK. All you need is a private space where you feel comfortable talking and a reliable internet connection. You’ll receive the details you need before your session.

Yes. I work with individuals, couples and people in multi partner relationships. My practice is inclusive of different genders, sexualities and relationship structures including consensual non monogamy. If more than two partners are attending a session, there is an additional £50 per extra partner on top of the intimate partner therapy fee.

Pretty much anything that’s affecting your sex life, intimacy or relationships. That might be changes in desire, difficulty with orgasm, painful sex, erection or ejaculation concerns, sexual shame, differences in desire between partners, compulsive sexual behaviours, past experiences, communication or simply feeling disconnected from yourself or your partner. You don’t need to have a diagnosed “problem” to come to therapy either.

Basically, it’s therapy where we can talk openly about the stuff people often find difficult to talk about. Sex, intimacy, desire, relationships, your body, pleasure and anything that might be getting in the way. We look at what’s going on physically, psychologically and emotionally and work together to understand what might be happening for you. No judgement, no awkwardness and nothing is too embarrassing to bring into the room.
